The Sunday Read

Yoga and Ayurveda Tips right into your Inbox

Hi Reader,

Tomorrow, we will be back again; yes, the rest is over now 😍. Have you booked your space yet?

What to look forward to? We are still practising a little faster to get the spring juices flowing. At the same time, we will stretch a little faster to start working towards the summer; yes, you heard right, towards the summer.

Gaging interest! I have been thinking for a while now about a monthly session working towards some advancing postures. Some of you are definitely ready for this. The session would probably be on the weekend. Is this for you? Please get back to me if you are interested.

Something else to look forward to: I am planning a day retreat for September. I am checking out a promising venue and will let you know once the date is fixed so you can add it to your diary.

My Daily Dose of Detox!

Now, I am not a detox fanatic. I like my two annual cleanses, and that's it.

I am a big fan of supporting the liver, though. The liver has many important jobs, from digesting fat to getting rid of waste to breaking down poisonous substances to removing excess oestrogen.

To give the liver time, we should go to bed early, by 10 pm, and that's when the shift starts.

Some say, 'but the liver can regenerate itself'. That's true, and in an ideal world, this would be sufficient. But we are exposing our bodies to so many substances like low-quality food items or highly processed food.

To cope better, the liver appreciates a little boost. Here is mine:

After the obligatory glass of hot water, I have this tea:

  • 1/2 tsp fennel seeds
  • 1/2 tsp coriander seeds
  • 1/2 tsp marshmallow root
  • 1/4 tsp fresh ginger
  • 2-3 mint leaves.

Bring a mug of water to a boil, add all the ingredients, switch the water off, put a lid on and let the mixture steep for 10 min. Drain and drink. It's tasty.

Enjoy your Sunday.

ps Remember to grab your seat for Thursday evening How to Eat for your Dosha.
